Garden Rooms

NB The furthest garden room is just 60 yards from the back door of the main building and the nearest is 25 yards. There are umbrellas in the rooms in case of rain but it really is just a hop & a skip to the main hotel back door.

All the garden rooms (20 – 29) are newly refurbished, a decent size, and particularly joyous in the summer because each has a sem-private terrace on the lawn side (with a simple table and two chairs). However, that does not mean they are not nice in the winter because they are all well-heated, so have no fear. The garden gets the sun from about lunchtime until it sets behind the castle in the evening. We have re-clad the exterior and put a new, balustraded, timber veranda along the front so guests have their own entrance and can leave wellie boots and other walking paraphernalia outside their room.

All the garden rooms have modestly sized, but spanking new bathrooms. They really do gleam, with beautiful new Porcelanosa wall tiles, hand basins, loos, de-mist mirrors with built-in shaver sockets (that no one can find!) and chrome towel radiators (the rads are chrome, not the towels, because that would be very uncomfortable). All bathrooms are en-suite with power showers over a full-sized, glass-screened bath.

All the rooms have 6' x 6' 6" zipped and linked Hypnos or Vi-spring beds, except two which are twin-bedded, and all have a glass-topped table and two tub chairs. New, flat televisions with built-in DVD are in all the rooms, although we still only have the terrestrial channels at the moment. (Orford is not well served when it comes to communications – generally a good thing.)

All rooms have tea and coffee-making facilities (including fresh milk) but guests are always welcome to come to the bar for tea or coffee.
